Fiightback Christmas survival

Updated: Dec 17, 2018

December 2018

With christmas upon us we understand it's a hard time for many surviving christmas without your children. This is a sensitive topic, and a situation no one should ever have to face. This time of year is geared towards families and being without yours is stressful and traumatic. We would like to remind you that we're all here.

Firstly, self care.

Take the time to step away from media if you know that this will upset you. Those pictures and tales of happy families will only serve to deepen your own feelings.

Do not suffer alone, reach out to family-friends- support groups. These are there for your use. I know it can be hard to tell people how you feel but they do care. If you are lucky enough to be granted a phone call or visit with your children, cherish this. Plan games or conversations that will keep you focused on the positives. If you are not lucky enough to be granted this take time to do some of the following:

Write a letter or email to your children for future

Make a scrapbook or memory box of your life for future

Art projects are great to focus

A walk in the outdoors really can help, especially if you have a pet to take along

Listen to some great songs

Most importantly do not feel ashamed or alone, as our group shows you're really not alone. We are all in this together. Remember that this is just one christmas and that your children will be able to see you soon enough. In the meantime stay strong, work on yourself and be the best you that you can be to make your children proud.

Learn to drive

Discover a new interest

None of this can take away the pain, but hopefully it can distract you enough to get through.
